Just a security tip for all you weekend coffee shop and development officers on the road working hard to further the missions of the organizations you support (was that kinda corny or lame). Something that came to me a few weeks ago when I was in St. Louis traveling from the home base of Denver, CO. I was hammering out a bit of work at the local Bucks when I was going through paper reports and documents.
Now I’m a very firm believer in not using paper as much as possible, and I truly hate carrying it around. So even when I do use paper or I am given example reports to create via paper excel print outs. Well my normal process is to document them, and organize them in my Evernote and keep it moving.
However on this occasion something occurred to me as I was folding them up to throw them in the trash. If I was in an office setting I would have immediately put these reports and documents into a shredder, but being in a coffee shop enjoying a Chocolate Chip Chiller from Dazbog it doesn’t occur to me.
Needless to say, stuffed those documents into the backpack and will shred them when in the office next. We have focused so much on digital information and technology that we forget about the actual paper documents and the data and information they contain.
Not that I want a slogan or anything, but use the quote Shred It and Forget It!
